Inspired by the Coast, Built for the Community

Set just outside Edinburgh, the Shack was created to offer something a little different—a relaxed, welcoming space where classic fish and chips meet elevated seafood dishes.

From day one, the focus has been on:

  • A menu that goes beyond the traditional chippy
  • A laid-back, coastal atmosphere inspired by some of the world’s great seaside destinations

The concept blends a modern fish and chip restaurant with a broader seafood offering, including crab, lobster and seasonal specials, all designed to celebrate the best of Scotland’s coastline. 


A Family Vision Brought to Life

At the heart of the Shack is a family story—led by Bryan Coghill, alongside his son Jack and the wider team. With decades of experience in hospitality, the aim was to create something that felt both personal and ambitious.

An investment of over £350,000 transformed the space into a vibrant new restaurant, bringing a fresh energy to the local dining scene and creating new opportunities within the community.

While fish and chips remain at the core of what we do, the Shack was always designed to go further.
